What is decoden?

Decoden care bear phone case

What is decoden?
This is a question which I read often, so I'll try to explain what decoden is.

Decoden is a crafting trend from Japan. It's short for "Decoration Denwa". "Denwa" is the Japanese word for "phone". But decoden isn't just about phones, it also could be decorated fingernails, portable gaming systems, mirrors, headphones and so on.
I guess, meanwhile it's just a term for the personalization and individualization of different items with many different materials.

Probably the most popular decoden projects are "Sweets Deco", but items decorated with colorful rhinestones are very popular too.

Padico Decoration Sauce - Review

Deutsch →

Today I'll show you these fake sauce pens from the company "Padico". :)

General information's:
These small bottles/pens are filled with deco sauces and they're from the Japanese company "Padico". They come in 10cc (10ml) tubes.
With these creamy sauces you can add a realistic effect to your fake sweets creations.

After the clay has dried, you can add the stringy liquid sauce on top of it. Because of the squeezable tubes, it's easy to apply.
The sauce dries by air contact. Depending on the applied thickness it will take just some hours to dry.

Café Latte Art Jewelry Sets And Dust Plugs

Hey guys, from today on I'll show you all the finished café latte art sets (necklace+earrings), which I've made recently.

I'm super happy with all those sets. I think, they look pretty cute and it has been so much fun, to make them. ^^
By the way, the charms are coffee-scented.

On the upper pictures you can see the first two sets. I'll show you the others the next days. :)
Suitable to every set, I've made cute dust plugs. I hope, you'll like my café latte charms.

Toast Brooch, Hot Chocolate And Tea Earrings

Hey guys, today I want to show you those older works.

I always wanted to make a fake toast with jam. And on the lower left picture , you can see the result. It's pretty bad, I know. xD
I like the melted "ice bear", but the bread and the pieces in the jam, look so weird.
But I'm working on more realistic looking bread textures and color shades.
I will give it another try later. ^^

I'm back! \(^▽^)/

Hey my lovely readers, it's been a while since my last post. I'm not really sure why, but my allready little motivation fade away completely the last months. Since the last year I often had no motivation (or just a little bit) to make something, but I forced myself again and again to make new stuff. But at a certain point I was not in the mood to model, to needle felt or whatever. So I have taken a break and I think, that it was a good decision!

About two weeks ago a small part of my motivation came back and so I started to make new charms. Because I haven't modeled something for a while, I just started with some easy projects - small 3D cafe latte art charms.
Those little mugs I wanted to make since a long time, but I forgot that idea. ^^

The dust plug on the picture below, I've made a long time ago... before my break.
The chocolate side of the cookie smells great like chocolate. *yum* :)

UV-Resin Necklaces

Hi! (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ
The last time I was too unmotivated to model something, and because of this, I tried out one of my new resins - a tin of UV-resin.
Unfortunately I realised, that the resin dissolves some paints and varnishes.
But well, apart of the fact, that it dissolves some paints, it works pretty great!
In the pictures you can see my new resin necklaces. Which one is your favorite? I like the left one at most. :3

Just for my resin projects I also started to dry flowers.
I urgently need to pick up some more, before they are all withered. But the most flowers which I've seen, are mostly too big. I just need really tiny ones like "forget-me-not".

For the necklace in the middle, I used dried elderflowers. It's too bad, that the white color changed to yellow, after drying.
I also used dried flowers for the pendant on the right. But because of the resin, the flowers look more like purple crystals instead of flowers. But it's a nice effect, I think. ^^

Decorated Waffle Phone Charm

Hey, today I want to show you this cute waffle phone charm. The charm should look like a "Schaumwaffel" (literally translated: Schaum=foam / Waffel=waffle).
I don't know, if you have something similar in your country too, but here it's a crispy waffle sandwich which is filled with a foamy sugar creme. You can find them here in Germany also in different shapes (for example a ice cream cone) and with different flavours. Also they're often coated with chocolate.

Because the simple waffle sandwich just looked a bit boring, I decorated it with different small pieces, chocolate glaze and chocolate chunks.

Simpel Caramel Toffee Rings

Hey people, today I'll show you two new rings again. I've made these caramel toffee rings a long time ago, but I've stored them in a drawer, because originally I wanted to decorate them later. But I forgot them and found them again a couple of days ago.
Meanwhile I think, they are pretty nice without any decoration. They're just simple and cute. I like them!

I also wanted to keep you up to date about my fragrant oil experiments.
My whole workroom (also other rooms in the house too) now smell like a mixture of strawberry, chocolate and vanilla. xD
The bad thing is, that I don't smell a lot of the scented charms anymore, because everything smells because of these oils. But my husband said, that they smell strong enough, so my attempts were successful, I guess. (✿◠‿◠)
But now I got the next problem: What kind of scented charms could I make? I have to many ideas, but I don't know where to begin... (¬_¬)

I think about a new give away, here on my blog. Do you guys have any special wishes or suggestions for a give away? It would be great if you let me know what you would like to win. You can write me a comment down below. :)

Scented Strawberry Necklace And Macaron Bracelet

Hey, these two pieces I've made exceptionally for myself.

I've made the macaron charm long time ago. It was one of my first clay pieces which I've ever made, I guess.  I don't wanted to sell this charm, because it was one of first creations, so I've made a bracelet for myself out of it.
I think, it's super cute and simple, so I want to make more of them. If I remember correctly, I've also made a mold out of the macaron shell then. This will save a lot of work for me. ^^

Fimo Air Light - Clay Review

Fimo Air Light is one of my favorite clays to make fake sweets. In this post I'll give you some general information's about this product, and I will share my opinion and experiences with you.

General information's:
Fimo Air Light from the German company "Staedtler" (formerly famous under the name "Efaplast", from the company Eberhard-Faber), is a really lightweight and soft modelling clay that can be air-dried. It can also be dried in a microwave oven within some minutes. After drying, the clay can be modified with paints, glue or varnish. For painting, acrylic paints, water-based paints or school paints, are suitable.
Because the clay is so lightweight, it's perfect to make jewelry, figurines, masks, door signs or home decorations.

Cute Decorated Donut Rings

Hello, beside the Crème brûlée note holder which I've showed you in my last post, I've also made these two cute decorated donut rings. Originally I've made three of these donuts, but the third one is still waiting for a further project. But I'm still not sure, what I should make out of it. Maybe I should use it for a decoden pocket mirror or something like this.

Do you like these two rings? I think, they are pretty cute and I really like them. ^^

How To Store Air Dry Clays

As the name suggest, air dry clays are just dries in the contact with air. Opened packages of air dry clay can dry out really fast, so it's important to store them airtight as good as possible. In this post I'll show you, how to store unused clays and what you will need for that.

Things you'll need:
-plastic wrap
-airtight zipper bags
-airtight containers
-water (if you want)
-elastic bands (if you need)

How to store:
Many air dry clays come in special foil packaging, which prevents a drying of the modelling masses. You should leave the clay in this package, but after opening, you should also additional wrap the package into plastic wrap. Because the plastic foil maybe falls off, you should fix it with a elastic band.
Leftover remnants of colored clay, you should also wrap really tight into plastic foil. If you want, you can fix the foil with a elastic band too.

You should put your well wrapped clay in a airtight zipper bag. Before you close the bag, you can spray some water in, also you should press out the air while closing.
I store my clay bags in airtight plastic containers. additional, you can also add some water into the container too.
The container with the clay should be stored at room temperature, but save it from heat! (no radiator or direct sunlight!)

Crème Brûlée Note Holder

Hey guys, I'm super happy to show you my new note holder! What do you think about it? (◕ ‿ ◕)

I like it to make projects like this, but the problem is, that such things need a lot of materials, so I don't make note holders very often. But because I want to use up my opened packages of air dry clays fast (because meanwhile they have become a bit dry and hard), I'll made a new one.

Some time ago, I've bought some cute small baking dishes to make new card holders. I pondered about, with what I could fill them - with fake pudding or fake cake? Then I remembered, that a lot of people use those baking dishes for Crème brûlée. So yeah, I decided to make a decorated dish of Crème brûlée.
I've needed two attempts to make a realistic looking burnt cream. The first try become too dark and the colors looked pretty unrealistic. My new Crème brûlée attempt is maybe not 100% realistic too, but it looks much better.
I decorated the dish with a dog shaped ice cream scoop and other random things like fruits and sweets.

Caramel Apple Charms And Necklaces

Out of the caramel apple charms, which I've showed you some time ago, I've made some new phone charms and necklaces.
What do you think about them? I hope, you'll like them. :)

Cookie Phone Charms

Hey guys, I have done it again! I've made some more cookie charms. This time I've made cookies in the shape of clothes - T-shirts, a dress, a skirt and two hats.
I had the idea to the cookie shaped clothes charms since a year, but I never realised it until now. The good thing is, that I can make a lot of similar charms just with other pieces of clothing's like pants, shoes, wedding dresses and so on. I just need to find good ideas for the details. ^^

Beside these cookie phone charms, I've also made a dust plug with a cute Madeleine which is decorated with chocolate and half pearls. I like it!

Last Two Cake Bag Charms

Hello, today I'll show you the last recent two cake bag charms I've made. I'm sure, that I'll make some more cake charms, but for now it's enough. Also I need to buy new tart baking dishes, because the ones I got are not the best, I guess.

I really, really like the bag charm on the left. I've made some almond slices and covered them with a fake caramel sauce and pistachio pieces. The top of the whipped cream I've made a little brownish, so that it will look like baked meringue.

The other bag charm is okay, but not my favorite. Maybe it's because of the silver metal pieces, but I think the cake itself doesn't look so great.

More Cake Bag Charms

Hey guys, here are three more cake bag charms. What do you think about them?

The bag charm on the left, is not my favorite. The cake itself is okay, but I dislike the whole bag charm.
I think, the pearls don't fit really well to the clay charms. Also I don't like the silver metal pieces. Maybe I should make this bag charm completely new...

The charm in the middle is pretty cute, I think, but unfortunately, the pink rose ruined everything! I don't know why, but the rose has accumulated some varnish in the interstices, which gained a lot of small air bubbles while drying. I tried to remove the varnish to make a new coating, but it happens again. I don't know why!? I never had problems with the varnish before and I didn't use a lot of it. It's so sad, because the cake looks actually so cute, but because of the rose, it looks ugly for me.

Cute Phone Charms And Brooch

Hello guys, here are some new things - a brooch with two cookies, and two new phone charms with a strawberry donut and a pink piano cookie. I hope, you'll like them. :)
Some days ago I've ordered a new Fimo Air Dry product. I'm not sure if it is actually a new product, but I've never seen or heard about it before. A nice person from a Facebook crafts group has made me aware of it. She has asked me, if I know the differences between Fimo Air Basic and Fimo Air Natural, but it was the first time, I've heard from Fimo Air Natural. I immediately readed the description on the Staedtler website. Allegedly it's like wood after drying and this made me pretty curious. I hope, it's somehow similar to wood clay. Unfortunately, I never tried wood clay before, because it's hard to get here in Germany, so I would be glad if it is something similar.

I thought about, that I want to upload more helpful posts in the future like reviews about clays and other materials, also more tutorials or something like that. The last days I've wrote a lot of new entrys which I just need to upload yet. I'll upload them little by little.
